Joe Belfiore Sums up Windows Phone 8

With all of the news coverage about Hurricane Sandy, you would be forgiven for missing out on the Windows Phone 8 launch today. For those that have been following the leaks about Windows Phone 8, there were few surprises. However, for the vast majority of people that don’t follow technology as closely as we do, the newly announced features are a pretty big deal. Microsoft’s Manager of Windows Phone, Joe Belfiore appeared on video today and gave an in-depth product tour of the new Windows Phone 8. I highly encourage you to watch it. If you are an Android or iOS user I am especially interested in your response to his criticisms of your platforms. For everyone else, which features are the most exciting for you?

  1. I’m completely sold. I’ve been an android lover ever since I got my droid x a few years back. I liked androids openness, I always told people, if you want your phone to do whatever you want, get an android, if you want your phone to do things well, get an iphone. Now, I feel there’s going to be a pretty good marriage of the two. I’m excited.

  2. I like that it shows pictures in the live tiles.. but I don’t feel like it was a fair assessment of Android. Android’s widgets appear, to me, to be at least as versatile as live tiles. I do like the infinite scroll on the home screen on WP8.

I still really like Android. That being said, if I could buy the 8X or the Lumia 920 for the same price as a Nexus 4, I would. I’m ready to try something different.
