Angry Birds 2! Yay?

Title
August 3, 2015

Hello, fair readers, and apologies for being late!  I’ve been a little conflicted about how to write this.  Rovio has released a sequel to its 2009 smash hit, Angry Birds.  Thirteen (13!) spinoffs, license collaborations, and repackaged iterations later, Angry Birds 2 has finally come out, and it’s wonderful.  It’s like being handed a tray of delicious cookies. The Delicious Chocolate Chip Cookie Rovio has really made a wonderful, solid…

Fallout Shelter Glows with Fun

Title
July 4, 2015

Good evening, dear readers, and a happy weekend to all!  To our United States readers, happy 4th of July!  To our non-US readers, happy Saturday!  Both are worth celebrating, and why not celebrate with games?  Something that’s really caught my attention lately is Bethesda’s latest game, Fallout Shelter. In Fallout Shelter, you play as the Overseer of your own vault. You welcome people from the wastelands looking for shelter and…

Limbo: Small Child, Scary World

Limbo, a 2D platformer by Danish developer Playdead, is an atmospheric puzzle platformer about a little boy who wakes up in a forest and goes to the right to find his sister. With well known mechanics and depth added to some simple actions, Limbo was an interesting title from 2010, well deserving of a retro review. Whether the story of someone’s childhood dream, or a metaphor for someone’s relationship, or…

Waiting My Turn – Tap Titans & Monster Strike

Title2

It’s a pretty fantastic game, and a valid reason for getting a…

Die Already! Mola Mola!

Title
June 7, 2015

I’ve been playing a lot of different games lately, but I had to share one in particular because of its bizarre quirkiness: Survive! Mola Mola!  If you’re looking for a fun and deceptively dark game, I definitely recommend Mola Mola. The entire game is part Cookie Clicker, part Tamagochi.  You raise a determined sun fish, the last of its 300 million clutch, that wants nothing more than to be the biggest sun fish…

Another Case Solved

Title
March 11, 2015

I frequently bemoan free to play mobile games. Allow me to make amends and talk about a rare gem in the slew of games vying for your attention and money. AT Game’s Another Case Solved is a free-to-play mobile game available for iOS and Android that doesn’t actually suck the fun out of itself with unreasonable demands of your wallet. Yes, there is a pay-to-win aspect, but it’s minimal,…

100 Word Review: Bit Dungeons II

January 16, 2015

Bit Dungeons II is basically a Roguelike mixed with top-view Zelda. The gameplay is basically kill monsters, get loot, kill bigger monsters, solve some really simple puzzles. You can evolve into multiple classes. Dungeons are simple, randomized, well built. It’s got really simple fun controls, perfect mobile game for one handed play. Addicting gameplay, permadeath is a nice touch. Sound is great. Suffers from the same problems other randomized roguelikes do,…
